This book was easily read as a standalone, without any prior experience with the series. It manages to throw a little bit of everything into this quick, shifter romance.
Twila's life turns upside-down when she gets the call informing her of her grandmother's passing. She picks up everything she's built in her life and relocates it to the Bear Lake Lodge so she can run the business she just inherited. The only complication (other than the fact that she knows nothing about running a business) is her one-night-stand, Jasper. He's still working as the general handyman and glue that holds the lodge staff together. They're forced to work together and it quickly turns steamy once more.
There are some twists and turns along the way, but these two manage to work on building a life together and figure out a path forward for the Lodge, too. While this was a very quick read, there was a lot of drama jammed into the pages.
