Review: Best Served Cold
Best Served Cold by Tawdra Kandle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm typically a paranormal romance reader, but made an exception for this author because her other series is one of my all time favorites. This book reminded me that contemporary romance can be fun and easy too. The writing style was the same wonderful breath of fresh air that I've come to expect from Tawdra Kandle books. It's easy and has some truly "real" feeling interactions and character building.
The story was one of a Julia, a woman scorned. Her longtime boyfriend, Liam, broke up with her in a particularly spectacular and publicly humiliating way. Still reeling from the burn, she, her roommate, and Liam's roommate work to try to get them back together (while Julia and her roommate are secretly setting up a way for Julia to humiliate Liam). While this plan is at work, Julia stumbles into a situation she couldn't have planned. Jesse, the older brother of Julia's babysitting charge, turns out to be a temptation that she can't ignore. He's sweet and adorable, with just the right amount of sizzle. They sure did heat up the pages with their chemistry. Their dates made me sigh and smile right along with them. And the Joss references didn't hurt!
This book was a really refreshing take on a revenge storyline. Rather than getting mired in the negativity, this book felt really positive. There were no cliche "gotcha" moments and it left me with a really big smile on my face. After a stressful morning, this was a great relaxing bathtub read that turned my whole day around.
