Review: Hot Blooded

Hot Blooded
Hot Blooded by Amanda Carlson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After being blow away by the first book, this one really ramped up the action even further. This book picks up immediately where the first book ends. We are on the hunt for Jessica's mate, which means this is a "road trip" type of book. Luckily, Jessica gets to take along my favorite character: Danny. This book was worth reading for Danny's banter alone. I would gobble up a book filled entirely with him. Oh, and Juanita. It'd be perfect. I was sad that we left James, but we got Ray and he's really starting to grow on me.

We get a healthy dose of information in this book, which was completely needed since we ran into just about every type of creature I can think of (and some I can't) on the way to destroy a goddess. There was also a lot of species mixing that looks like it might continue in the next one. I wouldn't object to more couples being formed because that might up the romance/smut quotient in these books a little bit.

Sadly, this book was completely without any Rourke/Jessica coupling. I'm a little broken up about this. I hope we finally get some gigantic payoff in the next book or I don't know how I'll survive the sexual tension. This book was just one big action sequence after another so hopefully the next book has a few more breaks for poor Jess and her pack.
