Take It Like A Vamp

Take it Like a VampTake it Like a Vamp by Candace Havens
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a really fun read! It really reminded me of the silly/sexy combo I most often see in Tina Folsom’s books. There was a great kind of humor in the writing style that I really like. I would love to read more from this group of characters, but I’m not sure if there will be future books set in the same world.

The main character, Casey, was a great “real life” woman, complete with curves and self-esteem issues. Her inner monologue was silly and fun and everything I like when I pick up a smutty paranormal romance. I’m a sucker for pop culture references and sarcasm, of which this book has in abundance. Nick was a great, sexy love interest for Casey. His backstory (vampire/werewolf/hybrid/something) was enough to hook me (you had me at “vampire”) and I loved watching their relationship grow. My only complaint would be that there wasn’t *enough* smut, especially given the fact that there is so much build up between Nick and Casey along the way. That being said, there is smut, but it just felt so rushed that I was left craving more. I know, sad, this is my only complaint, right?

I had never read this author before now and I’m eager to check out some of her other books after tearing through this one. If you’re looking for an enjoyable quick read, this book is for you.
