Review: Southern Bred and Dead
Southern Bred and Dead by Angie Fox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Poor Verity, always getting pulled into murder mysteries! Can't a girl get a break?
In this book we join Verity in her somewhat precarious relationship position with Ellis, still trying to balance being a good girlfriend with her calling as a ghost... investigator? Things are looking rocky, but her nagging ghost buddy Frankie has bigger things to worry about. On the quest to free him from always tagging along with Verity on their adventures, they are trying to work out his unresolved murder baggage.
Frankie's story may get a somewhat higher billing than the real world (alive-ish) murder mystery for me. We get to learn a lot about a day in the life of Frankie and all the gangster drama that lead to his being shot and killed. There are some truly surprising twists and turns in this book, so prepare yourself! Also, I was happy that we get a smile and sigh-worthy ending out of this bunch of misfits. With all the danger and drama Verity attracts, it's nice to see her settle in at the end of a book.
