Eyes Ever to the Sky by Katie French
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
OK, I admit to putting off reading this book longer than I should have. I've never been that big a fan of the "alien" paranormal romance. My mind conjures up images of green aliens and it immediately turns me off. Well, when I finally started reading this book I was immediately sorry! This book was such a great read! I was sucked in from the first page and didn't even put the book down to make dinner (thank you, Kindle goodness). The chapters were short and alternated between characters, making for a super fast paced read.
The romance element of this story was filled with YA sizzle that had me swooning over Hugh. Especially when he calls her "his girl." Sigh. I was also 100% on board with the "alien"-ness of the story. It didn't feel too forced or hokey for me to feel like it took away from the rest of the story. I found Cece's life to be another great aspect of this book. It was so startlingly real and gritty. I'm glad that the book gave us some resolution to her life, if not giving us a real end to what is clearly called a trilogy for a reason. There wasn't a cliffhanger exactly, but I'll be keeping my eyes out for the next book. I want to see more of Hugh and Cece!
