Review: Dragon Rising
Dragon Rising by Jaime Rush
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have not read any other books from this series, and I don’t think it impacted my enjoyment of this story at all. This was a really great, short read set in a unique and imaginative world. I’d be interested in checking out more from this series if this is what the author can accomplish in a novella format.
This story follows Lyra, a dragon shifter who is trying to track down the person who kidnapped her father. The trail leads her straight to Archer, a Caido, who cannot be close to others without suffering the pain of their emotions. The bonus ironic twist to his “condition” is that Caidos are innately sexual and supernaturally beautiful. The combination of a fiery dragon and a sexy Caido really sizzles in this book. The witty dialogue and interactions that Lyra and Archer share made for some great reading. You get a bit of action, some steamy scenes, and a lot of story packed into a bite sized portion. I highly recommend this as a quick paranormal romance read.
