Review: Dead Sexy
Dead Sexy by Paige Tyler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I admit to being a little reluctant about reading another zombie book. I am not a zombie book fan and have in the past been completely turned off by the zombie paranormal romance genre. This book completely change my mind! Not only was this book completely filled with sizzling scenes, it also managed to involve a zombie without grossing me out.
The story follows Drake Parrish, a womanizer and Wall Street executive who has his ego punished by a Voodoo priestess. Now a part-time zombie, full time editor, he ends up connecting with Simone, a romance novelist in need of some writer's block advice. The two hit it off in such a genuine and realistic way that I completely disregarded the whole zombie angle. The conversations they have are so very... real. It's hard to explain the easy back and forth, the witty banter that we get to see in this book. It totally drew me in and had me adding the author to my favorites list instantly.
Of course, things can't just be smooth sailing. The Voodoo priestess can't have Drake enjoying any of his new relationship with Simone, which leads to a lot of zombie chase scenes and standoffs, providing a very healthy dose of action in this otherwise very romantic and smutty read. The balance was just right for me and was really nicely done.
If you're looking for a truly steamy read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the book for you. This book truly convinced me that there is such a thing as a sexy zombie.
