Review: Broken Wings
Broken Wings by Cameo Renae
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book was an immediately continuation to Book 1, picking up minutes after the ending. Emma and her Guardians are still trapped, Kade has just run off, and there are a lot of injuries that need tending. With that as a starting point, the story really takes off from there. Kade returns, but there are some big changes that took place while he was away seeking help from the Midway.
I loved the YA love story from Book 1, but, sadly, there are a lot of things that need to happen in this book before Emma can devote time to her love life. Instead, Emma is tasked with going on a journey to Hell with her own mini-posse. This book was almost a road trip type, where a select few go on a trip that takes them away from the typical setting. In this case, the setting was Hell’s levels, each filled with horrible guards that want to kill them.
Emma’s powers and courage really grew in this book, leaving her a much stronger person in the end. She’ll need to be strong, because this book ended with her in a horrible bind. She’s got to make hard choices, stop Lucian, and work out her own issues (her parents just died a little while ago!). I’m eager to see where she heads, and I would really like a healthy dose of YA romance to make up for all the yucky monster slaying.
