Review: Playing With Fire

Playing With Fire
Playing With Fire by Cynthia Eden

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I didn't even realize this was part of a series, but I don't think it actually hurt me in the end. If anything, now I want to go back and read all the rest. I know that I'll pretty much love anything by Cynthia Eden, but this book was really a wonderful paranormal read. The world was so unique and engaging. I found myself desperate to finish the book just to see what happened to these two amazing main characters.

Dante is a phoenix, which essentially means he can die, flame out, then come back again. Sometimes he comes back with all his memories and sometimes he doesn't. It's a painfully sad process for poor Cassie. Cassie is a scientist who is trying to right her father's wrongs. Her father experimented on paranormals and tried to extract and change was made them unique. Cassie was one such experiment, which gave her blood a poisonous and addictive component. Of course, Cassie is in love with Dante. It's a tragic love affair, what with her constantly having to get him to remember her.

These two are steamy hot and sizzling (and not just because of all the fire that gets thrown around in this book). They were dodging bad guys, trying to find the real good guys, and all the while they were trying to figure out their relationship. I can't say enough good things about this book. It is certainly a unique world with lots of great back story, characters, and "powers." Each turn of the page brought something else that surprised and delighted me. You even get a quirky and wonderful HEA! What a fantastic read!
