Review: The Beautiful Ashes

The Beautiful Ashes
The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow -- what a really refreshing and original adventure! The world that the author has built in this book was so unique and well written that I felt like I dove in myself. There was something really special about this book that totally sucked me in.

This book is kind of about angels and demons. But really it's about Adrian and Ivy. Poor Ivy lost her parents last week and found out her sister is missing this week. She's determined to find her no matter what, but I think she would have hesitated for a moment if she realized exactly how deep she was going. After canvassing the last known whereabouts of her sister, she encounters something that (of course) cannot be real. People with weird shadow images on them cannot possible be real in the normal world, and these strange images are something Ivy has been ignoring for a long time. This talent that made her a freak before is suddenly something in high demand when she meets Adrian. Sigh.

Adrian is the hottie love interest of this book and had me hooked from the start. He and Ivy have a lot of supernatural baggage between them (what with essentially being tasked with saving the world from a war between angels and demons), but I'll be rooting for their little doomed romance every step of the way! I absolutely cannot wait to read more about them, even if they are filled with more angsty drama than a teen soap opera. This book was simply pure pleasure to read from start to finish.
