Review: No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It (Grayslake #1)

No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It (Grayslake, #1)No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It by Celia Kyle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that I am absolutely in love with this author. I love the easy writing style, the sizzling hot scenes, and the shifter universe that she has created. That being said, I think this is the start of an awesome series that I will absolutely be checking out.

Mia is a mostly human who has recently inherited a house in the werebear town of Grayslake. Having grown up around bears, she isn’t as shocked as she might have been when she discovers a bear cub in her pantry. It’s the events that follow that drag Mia into a brewing feud and struggle for leadership. It is also these seemingly innocent decisions that introduce Mia to Ty, the town’s Sheriff and Itan (leader of the werebears).

When Ty lays eyes on Mia, he immediately knows that she’s “the one.” His bear agrees wholeheartedly and tries to rush him to take her as his Itana. Lucky for him, Mia knows how the werebears work and can roll with the punches. Unfortunately, Ty doesn’t really try to follow any of her more human expectations. I loved the back and forth, as well as the backbone that Mia displays, standing up to some truly scary bears. The family that she’s inducted into is interesting and hopefully highlighted in the books to come.

There’s a lot of sizzle and steamy scenes, but there is also a heavy dose of story. This isn’t your typical short smutty read. There’s really some setup for a rich and interesting world here. If you’re a paranormal reader, this shifter series looks like something that you should check out.
