Review: The Reluctant Reaper

The Reluctant Reaper
The Reluctant Reaper by Gina X. Grant

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not sure what I expected when I was offered this book, but I was blown away by how hilariously silly and awesome it was! This book is filled to the brim with puns and dorky humor (in a good way!) that had me alternately rolling my eyes and laughing out loud. The wordplay was smart and silly at the same time. You gotta love an author that can keep up that sort of thing for an entire book (or series, I suppose). The writing style was really great and hooked me right away.

Kirsty is a girl who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, which ends with her being reluctantly reaped. Her hot reaper, Dante, and her end up on a journey to file an appeal. Much hilarity and punning ensues. It's a little hard to describe the story without giving anything away, so I'll just stop there.

I really can't say enough wonderful things about the refreshing style that this book was written in. Sure, the puns and wordplay might sound gimmicky, but they flowed seamlessly in the story that I couldn't imagine it any other way. I can't wait to check out the next book in this series!
