Review: Beautiful Danger

Beautiful Danger
Beautiful Danger by Michele Hauf

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a big fan of just about any sort of contemporary vampire romance, so this book really called to me. Lark is a vampire hunter, who in my head looked like an extra from Underworld. Scarred from her previous interactions with vampires, Lark has a huge chip on her shoulder because she’s the only woman in an almost exclusively male vampire hunting cult. Domingos is an equally scarred (physically, too) vampire who is out to get revenge on the werewolf pack that tortured him. In your typical fashion, Lark ignores her assignment to kill Domingos and instead, they fall into a dysfunctional sort of relationship.

The action and plot were interesting enough to keep my attention. The only thing that detracted from this book was the sort of forced smuttiness. The romance and plot were great, but the smutty scenes were sort of … awkward or missing something. Maybe they just fell into bed too soon? Maybe there was just a rush to finish up the overall plotline? I’m not sure, but it wasn’t enough to stop me from reading. I’m still curious where this series will go, so I’ll keep an eye out for some more books in this series.
