Review: Vampires Need Not...Apply?
Vampires Need Not...Apply? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Have I mentioned that I love these books? Because I absolutely do. They are funny and wacky and filled with oodles of paranormal goodness. The writing style is easy and witty, filled with the zany antics that only a bunch of gods and other paranormals can produce.
This book was really a continuation of Kinich and Penelope's story, which was left hanging at the end of the previous book. Does Kinich survive his transformation? Will he beat up Zak? The answers to all these questions and more are answered in this installment. We also get a bonus storyline for Ixtab and her reluctant sweetie, Antonio. It might sound like a hard sell, hooking up the goddess of suicide with... anyone, but this love story was just as fun as the rest. We also got to meet yet another paranormal species! The fun never ends with this bunch of characters.
Cimil is still making mischief with her honey, Roberto, but it seems like things are officially heading towards the apocalypse. We get to check in with Maggie (the star of one of the short stories) and there was the bonus of very little talk of the magical sex necklace. There was a bunch of creativity, hotness, and true love's sacrifice.
Don't worry, we get a really solid HEA ending in this one! Hooray! After books with never ending cliffhangers it was a relief to have a nice break from the worry.
