Review: Witch Hunt

Witch Hunt
Witch Hunt by S.M. Reine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cesar is an OPA agent, which (for those of us with experience in the SM Reine world) means not so good things. They are known as being discriminatory towards supernaturals of all types, except witches and kopides. I guess they were due for their own set of tales that will show the other side of the battles.

So, Cesar, the star of this tale (and maybe series?), wakes up with a hangover and a little bit of a dead body problem. With no memory and the authorities after him, he is forced to figure stuff out while on the run from just about everyone. This was a bit of a mystery, a police procedural (with witchy goodness), and a teeny bit of a romance (sort of). It was nice to see the world that SM Reine created before everything started to fall apart. I spent the majority of the book hoping for some cameos, but this new set of characters was strong enough to hold their own.

The writing style is just as gritty and great as all the other books. Cesar is likable and you are certainly in the same situation as him -- unsure who to trust, who the real killer is, and who is moving the pieces around the chessboard. I will definitely be looking for future installments in this series.
