Review: Dark Wolf Running (Bloodrunners, #5)

Dark Wolf Running (Bloodrunners, #5)Dark Wolf Running by Rhyannon Byrd

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, but I think this one worked pretty well as a standalone. I really enjoyed this unique shifter world and got enough backstory along the way to not feel lost. This book was steamy and romantic, with a lot of shifter and paranormal elements that kept me on my toes. The writing style made it easy to tear through this book in one night.

Wyatt is a bloodrunner, a half human, half wolf who was previously tasked with hunting down rogues and killing them. He’s got a complicated past, that he hides from everyone, but is determined to finally “man up” and go after the woman his wolf has deemed his life-mate. Elise is a broken and complicated woman who has no interest in anyone, except Wyatt. After a sizzling dance at her brother’s wedding, a cascade of bad luck led her to living in Wyatt’s cabin. Sparks fly as the two work on their own issues, and try to move past protecting one another from their own damaged selves.

This book avoided a lot of the things that I don’t like and hit on a lot that I like about the paranormal romance genre. There wasn’t a long drawn out bad guy scene, there was a nice amount of sexy time, there were some really well developed characters (and hints at the subject of future books), and there wasn’t any bad guy POV. If you enjoy some good alpha werewolf romance in a unique world, this series is for you.
