Repossessed by Shawntelle Madison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was fun and quick read that I was instantly hooked on. The writing had me smiling and laughing along the way with its quirky characters and the insanity that is their lives. I really hope this is the start of a fun new series.
Tessa is a matchmaker from a line of matriarchal matchmakers. Unfortunately, running a business in NYC that relies on ornery supernaturals paying her is turning out to be harder than it seems. She’s barely keeping the business afloat, which means bill collectors and repo men. Lucky for her, getting her car repossessed leads her to meeting Rob. Rob is a navy SEAL on leave who took a job as a repo man to make a quick buck. He’s digging his aunt and uncle out of debt and being a generally good guy. Tessa forces him to take her along on his repo jobs in the hopes that she can find her car in limbo (where all repossessed items end up). Honestly, the main storyline didn’t interest me as much as the characters did. I mean, c’mon, Tessa has a bunch of ghost cats wandering around in her apartment. How can any story compare to the backstory on that?!?
So, of course, sparks fly between the two unlikely allies. The romance is adorable and hot and wonderful to read. There was some smut, but it was more romantic and sizzling kisses than the wham-bam type. This supernatural world was so fun to get a glimpse of that I am really eager for more books from the same world. I hope the author has some more in the pipeline!
