Review: Vincent
Vincent by D.B. Reynolds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After the activities of the preceding short story, we all knew the next book would be heading to Mexico with Cyn’s bounty hunter contact. This book manages to push along the bigger vampire lord war plot as well as give us a bunch of new characters that I really enjoyed.
Lana is a bounty hunter for her father’s business. While she plays at being a tomboy and acts like she an ice queen, we watch that shell slowly dissolve through the wonderful machinations of the one particularly persistent vampire, Vincent. Vincent was also not your typical stuffy vampire lord (or soon-to-be lord in this case). He jokes, uses slang, and is pretty up front about most things (at least with Lana). Their romance was a little bit difficult because Lana insisted on calling them “partners” even once they started having incredibly hot and steamy sex. It was a little fun to watch Vincent handle it, though.
Overall, we got a slightly different type of mate romance, but I’m sure she’ll blend right in with the other members of the mates club. These books are like little yummy candies that I can’t stop eating. I know where it will go, what the story will do, but I still keep coming back for more. I am eager to see the developing war happen, especially after the ending of this book.
