Review: Winter Court: A Paranormal Romance

Winter Court: A Paranormal Romance Winter Court: A Paranormal Romance by SM Reine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The tarot witches saga is starting to grow into some sort of epic fantasy that I was completely not expecting. What started out as a paranormal romance series with some hints at the larger story has managed to weave into one bigger tale that you should definitely not dive into without having read the first few books.

Jaycee is the best executive assistant a man could want. She’s tough, demanding, and does not compromise. Unfortunately for Pierce Hardwick, she applies the same rigor to her personal life. She’s not willing to take a plunge into a relationship with her one-night-stand boss, even if it could be her chance at happily ever after. Her career and his are too important to her to allow her to bend her rules. All of this changes when Rage (of previous book fame) has an early morning meeting with Pierce without Jaycee’s knowledge. Oh, and she also gets a tarot card in the mail. Being a witch, these magical occurrences are not necessarily bad, but she chooses to ignore the omen entirely.

Turns out, Pierce has been trying to cure the lycanthropy that threatens to kill Graham (who we’ve also met before). This takes them via helicopter to the gothy mansion that simply does not meet with Jaycee’s tastes. Unfortunately, what seems like a type of clinical trial they had done many times before turns into something significantly more personal for these two. There’s a lot of tarot witch magic (and sexy times) packed into this book that sets up a very interesting future for all of the characters involved here.
