A New Year in a Small Town by Tawdra Kandle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Regan & Jackson do not disappoint in this short story set in Burton. While you don’t necessarily need to know the whole gang from Burton, it’s nice to revisit some familiar faces along the way.
Regan has returned to her hometown after a bit of a surprising breakup. While she’s come to terms with it as a good thing now, it leaves her in a bit of a bind because she drunkenly proclaimed she would be engaged when next she saw her hometown friends. Her mom and Jackson’s mom, however, have a plan for that, putting them both under the impression that they should go to the transitional New Years celebration together. Being good kids, they agree, but it’s awkward.
Jackson alway assumed that his crush was not reciprocated. Regan assumed the same. Together they wasted a lot of years, but that all comes to light on this wonderful New Years. Misunderstandings are remedied, with sexy results!
